Hello, World

A quick intro to what this blog will be about — chip design, research, and things I'm learning.

Welcome to my site. I’m Justin — an EE grad student at UT Dallas finishing my MSEE in chip design.

What I’ll write about

Most posts will be technical. Topics I plan to cover:

  • ASIC design — RTL coding patterns, synthesis gotchas, timing closure strategies
  • Physical design — PnR flows, DRC/LVS debugging, custom cell layout
  • Research — geolocation algorithms, RF signal processing, things that came out of my work at UTD
  • Tools — Cadence, Synopsys, Vivado workflows and tips I’ve picked up

Why write?

Writing forces clarity. If I can’t explain a concept in plain terms, I don’t fully understand it yet. The blog is a forcing function for that.

Also, when I was learning VLSI, I couldn’t find many practical write-ups on the day-to-day realities of the flow. I want to add to what’s out there.

More posts coming soon.
